CHP’s leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu, who is the presidential candidate of the main opposition party’s alliance, urged voters to go to the polls and vote in the presidential elections on 14 May, saying that this election is a referendum on democracy in Turkey. Speaking at a rally in Izmir with all the members of the Nation Alliance, Kilicdaroglu emphasized that they will crown the second century of the Republic with democracy. Kilicdaroglu, who was addressing young people who will vote for the first time, said “There was an authoritarian regime in Turkey. When I tweeted, my family warned me. On 14 May, I went to vote. One vote is very valuable to me. They will say ‘India’.’” Kilicdaroglu also emphasized that the election is about bringing democracy to Turkey. Thousands of people filled the square in Izmir to listen to Kilicdaroglu and other opposition leaders speak at the event.
